Fishing Reports
It has been another very mixed week with some days warm and others far too cold for May. Today was a lot warmer from first thing so I hope this is the turning point for the start of summer.
The fly life on the water and all around has been amazing this week
even on the colder days. Small flies should be doing best with buzzers, Kate McLaren, Bloodworm Diawl Bach, damsel and yellow dancer.

With the rise in temperature most days, there has been a lot of fly hatches on the water and you can see the life moving in the water. Bloodworm, Buzzers, Diawl Bach and small nymphs have been doing well as well as the usual damsel and various fritz. The water has been fishing well all round giving good sport for the anglers. When the lures are not working you just have to change to something small which usually produces results.

We must have had the coldest Easter week-end on record, but a few amglers braved the cold winds, the biggest probem being the fingers going numb. There was plenty of good sport with fish being caught in the top half of the water with only a few being caught deeper. The wind has kept changing direction so where was fishng best changed along with it.
Again there has been a wide variety of flies doing best, damsel, yellow dancer, buzzers and diawl bach.
On Saturday the BMW FFC from Bannockburn had a good day
taking 43 fish for 78 lbs H.B. Eddie Blair 5 fish 10.1/2 lbs.

A few anglers have braved the weather this week, with some days there being short intervals of calmer weather. After yesterday's rain black flies are working when the water is sandy, but it will settle down quickly if we have no more rain. During the week it has been Bloodworm, Black and Green Fritz, Damsel, Pink and Yellow Dancer.
Last Sunday morning a few anglers from the the Tullibody Inn took 9 fish for 24 lbs with Ken Chidwick and Reg Myes taking

At last we have had a few dry days with some sun, but it will need to be dry for a while for the ground to dry out. I seem to be saying the same thing every week, the fish are mostly being caught just under the surface and have not moved out of the deeper water this winter and are being caught all round. The Green & Black Fritz, Yellow Dancer, Copper Hot Head Fritz, Cat,
and Buzzers.
Last Sunday some anglers from Scot Beef, Bridge of Allan had a good day taking 41 fish for 97.1/4 lbs.

What a difference a bit of sun has made this week, with Wednesday being the first sunny day we have for a long time it has a good effect in cheering everyone up.
The fish have been mainly getting caught again just under the surface apart from when we had the bright sun, it was the shock that was putting the fish off, because today in the sun they are near the top. Pinkie, damsel, Green and Black Fritz, buzzers and the Bloodworm with the rubber legs. I just report the catches up to Yesterday, (Friday) but today a different fly caught 5 fish very quickly, a orange head with copper tinsel on, very simple but effective.

I do hope this month's weather is better with a lot less rain than January although so far it is not off to a very good start with snow falling tonight.
After all the rain we had last week I closed for four days and was quite surprised on Tuesday the fish
we being caught just under the surface again. When the water was high and very brown with sand there was nothing showing on the surface until the sand started to clear. There have been a few fishermen who have braved the elements.
Yellow Dancer, Black & Green Fritz, Pinkie, Bloodworm and Diawl Bach have been taking fish.

It will be no surprise that this has been a very quite week with the weather we have had. Today I think the amount of rain that has fallen must be as bad as it was when Perth was flooded years ago. Again most of the fish have been caught in the first two to three feet of water, there has of course been no one here today, as they will be hiding on the botoom until the water clears.
Damsel, Yellow Dancer, Black and Green Fritz, Pink
and nymphs have caught the most fish.

It has been a very mixed week with the weather changing from day to day with far too much rain, which certainly shifted all the snow that was lying last week-end. Again the fish have been moving on the surface or just under with lots of touches for the fishermen giving them good sport. The weather is making the fishing quiet but there are always some firshermen who come out regardless the weather. Hothead damsel has been doing well with Nymphs, Yellow Dancer and Black and Green Fritz.

This week winter is certainly here but there are still plenty of fish showing on the surface with floating or intermediate line doing best. The fish have been taking just under or about two feet down on Damsel, Yellow Dancer, Black & Green Frtiz,
Mini cat.
On Thursday Harry Graham could not believe the size of his fifth fish at about 11 o'clock his second double figured fish not only in a lifetime but in the one month, when he pulled in a
19.1/4 lb rainbow on a mini cat. Harry was both excited and exhausted by the time he got the fish landed with the mini cat hook almost straight. It was a beautiful fish with a lovely full tail and fins. That is the fishery record broken again this year. Harry's Bag was 5 fish for 31 lbs.
